Misc. Stats Topics Discussion > How do I analyse my design?

Hi,
My study design involves presenting three different pairs of stimuli to two groups (patient and control)

sad face/happy face
neutral face/ happy face
sad face/ neutral face

The dependent variables will be the rate of switch within each stimulus pair (e.g. switching between sad and happy face) and the dominance of one picture over the other within each stimulus (e.g. sad face more often than happy face).

I am tying myself in knots trying to figure out the best way to analyse all this. Basically I want to see whether the patient group has a faster rate and predominance on a certain stimulus compared with controls.

Can anyone help?

Hi Amanda,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "switching within each stimulus pair", could you explain a bit further?

Thanks for your reply Jeremy,

I am referring to binocular rivalry where two different images (e.g. stimulus pair) are presented to each eye at the same time. Switching between the images occurs when the images alternate between attention and suppression.
