Missing Data/Imputation Discussion > Pooled standard deviation in SPSS?

The participants in my study have performed various different tests. As part of the results section, I would like to describe their results on the various tests using the Mean and Standard deviation (from a Multiple Imputation dataset). However, the "Descriptives" in SPSS only supports pooling of Mean, not standard deviation.

Is there any way of calculating a "pooled standard deviation"? Would it be acceptable to calculate it from the pooled standard error --> (square root of N * pooled standard error)

Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.

Hi mike!

I would likely calculate the pooled SD the same as any other estimate, by calculating a mean SD across imputations. I hope that helps!
