MANCOVA and MANOVA Discussion > On the right track?
I am confusing myself further as I type. Covariates would be the pre-test. My fixed factors would be the facilitators, particpant age, gender, etc. Ugh!

I do think you are on the right track, and a MANCOVA does make sense to me. If you choose to use a repeated measures MANCOVA, it would allow you to examine the change in score (from pre to post), while also examining whether change was predicted by other variables in your model (such as facilitator group and/or age, gender...etc). I need help and am having difficulty understanding why I have been told to use a MANCOVA. Here are the details, it is a non-experimental design with a pre-test, an intervention, and a post-test. There are a handful of facilitators delivering the intervention to participants. I want to know if there is a difference between groups based on the facilitator who delivered the program, as well as several other variables such as participant age, gender, etc. Does this sound logical? I am a novice and as you can see am struggling to grasp all of this. I understand the covariants would be the facilitator, participant age, gender, etc. Also, should I use something else to determine whether the intervention was successful? Comparing just the results of the pre/post test? I am using SPSS if that makes a difference. I can't seem to find anything decent on the web about MANCOVAs.
